Dulles Airport, JetBlue, mindless television, neither is solid deodorant, powder is not a liquid, snacks, TSA
Today I’m grateful for JetBlue Airlines. My colleagues and I flew home today from Dulles after a big client meeting. We turned in our rental car, got the shuttle to the airport and then had to walk miles down the terminal to get to the ticket counter. Then I got hassled by TSA for not taking my (solid) deodorant and baby powder out of my suitcase when I went through security. (When I asked why, the woman said, “You’re always supposed to take your powder out. But I’ll let you go this time.” Really. HULK RAGE.)
Then we got on the little airport train thingee going the wrong way, and had to switch trains at the end…where we also got hassled by airport officials for exiting the train through the “wrong” door.
Just when I thought I couldn’t dislike Dulles Airport anymore, we got to the JetBlue gate. The gate agents were pleasant. They board (mostly) by row number, which makes much more sense than zones. I sat in the back of the plane, which wasn’t full, so I had two seats in my row to myself. The flight attendants were friendly, and gave me extra snacks. They have DirecTV so you can watch mindless television the whole time if you want. And I got home safe and sound.
And the price was right – $115 round trip. Take that, United (I mis-typed “Untied” at first which is actually pretty apt). I’d fly JetBlue all the time, but they don’t fly everywhere I need to go. Sigh.
NOTE: This is not a paid promotion for JetBlue, though I’d be happy to write such things if they wanted to pay me…
